Rules FAQ

Frequently asked rule questions

Short answers to the combination, team, and scoring questions that come up most often.

Can a straight contain a 2 or joker?

No. Straights run from 3 through A. A hand such as 3 4 5 6 2 is not a straight.

Is 3334445 a legal plane?

No. Two body triples require two wing cards. 33344456 is legal. A pair can be split into two single wings, so 33344455 is also legal.

Are two jokers a pair?

No. The small joker and big joker have different ranks. Together they form the rocket, which beats every bomb and normal combination.

Can a farmer pass when the teammate is winning?

Yes. Farmers usually should pass to protect a teammate's lead unless they can immediately finish, take control for a long play, or block an imminent landlord win.

Does either farmer going out win the round?

Yes. The farmers share one result. If either farmer empties their hand first, both farmers win.

Can I pass when I am leading?

No. A player leading a new trick must play a legal combination.

Do bombs always double the score?

Every bomb or rocket doubles the multiplier. Spring and reverse spring add another doubling at settlement.

Do suits matter?

No. Suits are display only. A pair is two cards of the same rank, regardless of suit.

Is this a gambling game?

No. TRICKSTACK is a free skill game with no cash, prizes, betting, or withdrawals.
